My name is Vanessa and I'm the person behind MsFitzFCS.

My lifelong interests morphed into a degree and then two different careers in teaching Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS). FCS teaches life skills as well as career skills. On this site, you will find FCS lesson ideas that work well in the secondary classroom. Much of the content can also be used to teach young adults these life-long skills! My biggest focus is food and nutrition and culinary arts.

After working as a county Extension agent in Texas and teaching adults how to cook and manage their diabetes, I became a FCS teacher in a high school, where I taught child development, teen living, foods & nutrition, 2 levels of culinary arts classes, and 2 levels of hospitality classes. I love teaching teens to cook!
